Learn About LEED Neighborhood Design

Douglas Farr of Farr Associates will be in town on Wednesday, February 14, 2007 to discuss LEED (a green building rating system) for neighborhoods. Farr is the chair of of the LEED Neighborhood Deisng project, so this should be a very informative presentation. Tickets are $20 (students $10) - get them here.

Cincinnati Considers Cuts to Recycling Program

Update: The public hearing on the recyling program set for February 12th has been cancelled.


In the most recent city budget, reductions were recommended for the city's recycling program. Instead of recycling pick-up every week, the budget recommends a bi-weekly collection, effectively cutting the number of recycling collections in the city by half. Without the convenience of equal collection for both waste and recycling, the city is bound to reduce the overall amount that citizens recycle yearly (12,250 tons in 2005). If you want to speak up on the proposed reduction of service, the city will be holding a public meeting on Monday, February 12th at 6:00pm at City Hall. Please come and let city council know how you feel!
